I’m a double amputee, just visiting from the UK. I’ve been trying to enter the subway here but apparently the 14th Street elevator is shut down. I had a motorcycle accident in 2009 and they had to amputate my legs: left leg below, right leg above. The Limbless Association helped me enormously. I got involved with them right away, and I was back at work (I do IT) in six months. Now I volunteer for them. I got my protheses five years after the accident, but I can’t walk long distances on them, I need this chair for the long hauls.
